Canoe and kayak rentals are available from the Coal River Group Science and Education Center. Pettigrew Lake is great for beginners just learning how to paddle a canoe or kayak. The water is calm for a relaxing experience. Experienced users can use one of the boat launch sites to paddle the Coal River. In June, the park hosts the nation’s largest Kayak Flatwater community float event.
